Keeping in mind rapid changes in the dynamic IT industry, certain categories have been updated to reflect the current changes in the industry. Two new categories were introduced the previous year to better reflect the talent in Pakistan; Subsequently, criterions have also been updated in each category, as per the requirements of the industry.

Besides categories which are specific to Information Technology, an effort is also made to recognize the services of individuals who have played an instrumental role in spreading the cause of Information Technology, be it at any organization or at the national level.

Excellence in I.T Business Intelligence
This is an award given to an individual who has demonstrated skills in integrating a successful Business Intelligence (BI) plan within an organization and thereby increased business performance and productivity.

Excellence in Software Export
This is an organizational award which will be given to the company based on the uniqueness of effort. This could be uniqueness of the product or penetrating a new market.

Excellence in Software Development
This is an award given to an individual who has developed a unique application which is viable in practical fields. This is aimed towards recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skills in developing software which is / can be deployed locally and internationally.

Excellence in Networking
This award focuses on recognizing an individual who has been involved in designing/implementing the Networking concept including the spread of Internet, network security and other related technologies.

Excellence in I.T Education
This award is specifically targeted towards giving a boost to and motivating people who are involved in nurturing the talent of IT in Pakistan.

Excellence in I.T enabled Service Offering
This category recognizes innovation in solutions offering having a direct impact towards the consumers in Pakistan; be it creating convenience or related to raising the bar in the service industry with respect to the technology solution. In the last few years Pakistan has seen a number of unique services being offered to the people and the IT Awards wants to recognize the thought leadership behind these service offering.

Excellence in Project Management
This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated qualitative and quantitative results in successful execution of project/projects during the period of consideration.

Excellence as an I.T Student
This category encourages the initiative taken by the college/ university students in the IT field and at the same time appreciates and acknowledges their interest in subject areas of IT. This category is only applicable to full time students (below the age of 25 years) who are currently undergoing education in the field of Information Technology or Computer Science.

Excellence in I.T Research & Development
This category recognizes outstanding individuals who have played a role in developing new ideas, technology, techniques and /or products through R&D.

Excellence in I.T Media & Publication
This category rewards individual journalists, authors and writers for their role in promoting IT in Pakistan and generating public interest in IT related matters.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Lifetime Achievement Award goes a long way in ensuring that people who have devoted major portion of their lives to the promotion of IT in the country are duly recognized for their outstanding achievement and commitment. This is not a self-nominated category.

CIO of the Year
This category recognizes leadership and thought innovation in technology applications within an organization. CIO’s are true visionaries and have the daunting task of choosing the best solutions to reduce redundancies, reduce costs and thus impact the bottom line.
